SmartShunt Sensor

Overview

SKU: ISXSNS-SSNT-1

SmartShunt DC voltage and Current sensor. Can sense DC voltage up to 70V and DC current up to 500A. Typically used in monitoring solar panels and battery packs. Use with the Interstacks Serial block.

Additional notes

  • To measure DC voltage, connect the wire connected to the SmartShunt VBatt+ green push terminal to the positive DC power terminal you want to monitor.
  • To measure DC current, connect the large gold shunt terminals in series with the ground line between the battery (to battery minus gold screw terminal) and the load (system minus gold screw terminal).
  • To measure DC voltage without using the shunt in series to measure current, one ground reference must be connected to either the system minus or battery minus gold terminal. This is the ground reference for the DC voltage measurement via the VBatt+ green push terminal.

The SmartShunt connects via its VE.Direct serial data UART connector to an Interstacks Serial or Dual UART Serial hardware block. Software inside the stack will read the voltage and current data from the SmartShunt. The 4 pin JST (2mm) connector cable plugs into the VE.Direct port. From left to right, the Red wire is +Vcc (5v), Black is Transmit Data, Yellow is Receive Data, White is ground. This means that white connects to pin 10 on the Interstacks Serial Block, red connects to pin 9 of the Serial block, yellow connects to a Serial block UART transmit, and black connects to Serial block UART receive.
