I/O Expander
Overview

SKU: ISXSTK-IOXP-1
Eight individually configurable I/O channels. Connect buttons, switches, LED lights, some sensors, and other inputs. Supports eight dry contact switch inputs, or NPN or OC digital output types, or eight digital DC inputs (5VDC max), or digital outputs (0-3.3VDC). Ten wire screw terminal connector on back. See other I/O modules for other voltage ranges, analog and digital.

Additional Notes
Connect dry contact switch inputs (or NPN, or OC open collector sensor outputs). This block also supports eight 3.3V digital outputs that can drive an external relay board. Digital inputs must be dry contact switch closures or 5V DC maximum. The connector block can also output 3.3V or 5V for powering an external device.
NPN Sensor Wiring Guide
To count items, proximity and photoelectric sensors are often used. 3 wire NPN sensors are compatible with the Interstacks I/O Expander block when the sensors are powered separately from the stack, typically using 10V-30V DC power.
Power from the external power source is connected to the sensor power only. The GND of the external power source is connected to the I/O Expander GND and sensor GND. The signal output from the sensor is connected to the I/O Expander input.
