Exporting data

The MyStacks platform lets you easily download your data for the purpose of creating reports or conducting your own analysis. Two options are available, depending on your needs:

  • A quick ‘Export to CSV’ option, available from the orange header of most widgets
  • The Export Tags widget, a powerful tool with features such as setting up complex time frames and automating recurring exports

Quick Export to CSV

Most Time Series and Analytics widgets offer the Quick Export to CSV feature. Hover over the orange header of a widget, and click the three dots () to open the Actions menu. Click ‘Export to CSV’ to instantly download any data currently displayed on this widget with a single click.

Use the Previous and Next buttons to find the particular window of data you’d like to export, or adjust the time window directly using the widget configuration menu under the gear icon ().

The Export Tags Widget

The Export Tags widget is a powerful tool capable of exporting large quantities of data from multiple sources, defining time windows that exclude non-working hours, and even scheduling automatic recurring exports.

There are a few key differences between this approach and the Quick Export feature:

  • This tool must be added to a dashboard using the Add Widget button ()
  • A link to download the resulting file is emailed to a list of recipients you define
  • You will not receive your file instantaneously; Requests are processed according to server availability and the quantity of data requested

Once you click the New Export Request button the configuration page will guide you through the process of adding recipients, selecting formatting options for the spreadsheet, defining the window of data to export, and choosing a unit of data to aggregate together (shift, day, week, etc).

For a detailed walkthrough, refer to the Export Tags article in the widget library.
