Export Tags Widget
Summary
The Export Tags widget lets you export data from multiple tags across one or more stacks as a downloadable CSV file. You can select a window of data to export, choose how that data is aggregated, and schedule automatic recurring exports to be sent to your inbox. This widget is useful when you need structured historical data for reporting, audits, or offline analysis in tools such as Excel.
The overall flow is as follows:
- Click New Export Request
- Give your export a name, recipients, and preferred format (vertical or horizontal)
- Choose one-time or recurring to define the window of data to include
- Choose how finely to aggregate the data (shift/day/week/month)
- Add at least one time period to exclude weekends / off-hours if desired
- Check the export preview for accuracy and submit
Browsing scheduled and queued exports
Once the Export Tags widget has been added to a dashboard, you will see a list of scheduled and queued exports as shown below.

- New Export Request: Click this button to begin configuring a new export request. The next section of this article breaks down this process in detail.
- Scheduled Exports: The Export Tags widget enables you to schedule data exports on a recurring basis, such as emailing a weekly productivity summary each Friday. These recurring exports are listed and managed in this section.
- Export Queue: When a request is executed, it appears in this list with the current status:
- Requested: The export request has been submitted and is currently in queue for processing.
- Complete: The export is complete and the data file is available for download.
- Expired: The download link for this export has expired; A user must use the resubmit action in the menu below to request the export again.
- Action Menu: Various actions are available from this menu for scheduled and queued exports.
- Edit: Re-opens the configuration panel of an existing scheduled export, allowing users to make changes.
- Duplicate: Creates a copy of an existing scheduled export and opens the configuration panel, allowing users to quickly create variations of a configured export.
- Download: Download the exported data file once the export status is complete. Small exports under 2MB may be exported as .CSV files, larger exports will be exported as .ZIP files.
- Resubmit: Creates a duplicate request of a queued export and re-opens the configuration panel, allowing users to quickly re-submit.
- Delete: End and delete a recurring export, or remove a queued export from the historical list.
Report details and format options
After clicking the New Export Request button and selecting the tags to export, you will be taken to the New Export Request configuration panel. In the first section you can add a name and description, designate your recipients, and tailor the format of the .CSV file that will be created.

- Name: Enter a name for this export request. This will appear in the list of scheduled and queued exports; Including something descriptive can help you find it later.
- Description: Add a short description. This will follow the name in the exports list.
- Email recipients: If you would like this report to be delivered via email on completion, you can add one or more emails here separated by commas: Email1@sample.com, Email2@sample,com
- Email formatting: Additional customizations for email delivery are available, suitable for smaller data summaries.
- ‘Include data table in email body’ will include an HTML table of data in the body of the email, up to a maximum of 200 rows.
- ‘Attach CSV in email’ will attach a .CSV file instead of a .ZIP if the generated file is 2MB or under.
- Spreadsheet organization: Choose whether you would like data from each tag organized in columns, rows, or co-mingled in a single column by timestamp
- Spreadsheet formatting: Additional customizations for the CSV file are available, intended to accommodate various workflows post-export.
- ‘Export tags as separate files’ will create a separate .CSV file for each exported tag.
- ‘Exclude header row’ will exclude the row that includes the name of each tag from the file.
- ‘Preserve tag order’ will organize the exported tags in the order that they were selected in step 1 of configuration, instead of the alphabetical default.
Export schedule and range
This section defines whether this export request is one-time or recurring, and establishes the range of data to include in the export.
Immediate export: Simply enter the beginning and end date/times of the fixed data window to include, and skip to the next topic in this article.
Recurring export: In this case, the window of data to be exported is relative to the scheduled execution time. For example, to get a summary of the previous week in your inbox every Monday morning:
| Steps | Example |
| Define the execution day and time | Execute weekly on Mondays at 12:00 AM |
| Define the start of the data window relative to execution time | Start including data 7 days prior to the time of execution |
| Define the end of the data window relative to the start | Stop including data 7 days after the start of window |
The recurring export interface is annotated and described below.

- Timezone: Select the timezone you wish to work in. Dates and times you enter in the following fields will adhere to this selection.
- Export schedule: Select whether you would like to immediately export a fixed window of data, or whether you wish to schedule a recurring report with a moving window. This will modify the rest of the fields accordingly.
- Frequency and time: Select an export cadence, and a day and/or time to execute. This recurring execution schedule anchors the moving data window to be exported.
- Start of data window: Define the number of hours/days/weeks prior to the execution time you wish to begin including data.
- Snap to start: Select this to ignore the time of export when setting the start of your data window, and instead include the entire first day/week starting from midnight.
- Duration of data window: Select how many hours/days/week from the start of your data window you wish to include data. This will determine the end of your exported data window.
Choosing a level of data aggregation
This section defines the quantity of data to be aggregated into each ‘cell’ of the .CSV file, allowing you you to convert tens of thousands of datapoints into useful summaries of shifts, days, weeks, or months. You can also set up custom time periods to include in your analysis, excluding non-working hours or days as your particular schedule requires.
The data aggregation interface is annotated and described below.

- Unit of aggregation: Choose the time span over which your data is grouped. Options include Day, Week, Month, or Shift.
- Day/Week/Month: Group data into units of the selected calendar period. Use the following UI element, ‘Select configured periods’ to exclude nonworking hours or weekdays if desired.
- Shift: Group data into custom work periods that you define. This is useful for work schedules that do not align to calendar days. This selection enables you to create multiple custom periods as needed.
- Select configured periods: Choose from presets or custom-configure the time periods and weekdays you wish to include in your export here. At least one selection is required.
- Time and duration settings: This panel allows you to define a period of time on selected weekdays, down to a resolution of 15 minutes, to be included in your aggregation. Data received during hours and/or days of the week not specified here will be ignored. Additional time periods can be added in order to model complex schedules (see item 6).
- Label and description: Give a custom time period a useful label and description to make it easy to identify wherever it may be applied, such as in OEE Circle or Multi-Tag Report widgets.
- Save preset: Permanently add this custom-configured time period to the dropdown of presets in Select Configured Periods (2).
- Add additional periods: Use this dropdown to add multiple custom time periods as required.
- Remove period: Remove this time period from the current list.
Preview of Export
This section provides a preview of what the next scheduled export will include based on your current configuration. Review this summary to ensure you export includes the data you need before clicking Finish.

Final selections and submission
If you are exporting a tag with state properties, this section allows you to select which states you would like to include in your report before submitting your export request.

- Reporting: Select ‘States’ if you are exporting tags sending continuous/analog data, or ‘Counts’ if you are exporting tags sending discrete/digital data. Use the checkboxes to include or exclude various states. If you have selected a tag with no states configured, use the shortcut (
) to create at least one States Property for this tag. - States With Intervals: Turn on ‘With Intervals’ to display the total time or percentage of time that a tag is in each selected state. This can help you answer questions like, ‘How many hours does the drill press stand idle each day?’
- States With Transitions: Turn on ‘With Transitions’ to display the number of times that a tag enters and exits each selected state. This can help you answer questions like, ‘How many times does the drill press activate each day?’
Click ‘Finish’ to submit your export request. Requests will be processed in a queue, and usually complete ~1 hour after submission. Large quantities of data or multiple simultaneous requests will take longer to complete.
