In this blog post, we will summarize some of the additions to the MyStacks platform in the most recent software release v 3.0.0.
We’re excited to roll out a major update that improves how dashboards are organized and navigated. This will be especially impactful for teams managing multiple user groups, and makes it easy to leverage larger numbers of dashboards that focus on distinct use cases (for example, setting up factory-level reporting dashboard for leadership, machine lines and work cells for floor managers, and individual machines for operators.)
Left-hand Navigation Drawer
The old dashboard browsing window has been replaced with a new left-hand navigation drawer. Dashboards are now organized under the groups that have access to them, and dot notation in dashboard names creates a folder structure for dashboards. You can have multiple groups and folders open at once, making it much easier to explore and manage your organization’s dashboard hierarchy.
Search & Filter
Quickly find what you’re looking for with the new search field at the top of the drawer. Results show the full navigation path, helping differentiate between dashboards with similar names. Click a group or folder to jump to it in the drawer, or click a dashboard to open it instantly.
“Visible Only to Me” Folder
Unshared dashboards are now grouped into a distinct folder labeled ‘Visible only to me’. This helps clarify which dashboards are private and which are shared with your user group(s). Reminder: Duplicating a shared dashboard creates a private copy, so feel free to experiment. Your changes won’t affect others until you choose to share with a group.
What Hasn’t Changed
Dot Notation : Continue using dot notation in dashboard names to control dashboard folder structure. For example, naming a dashboard Company.Machine1 will place dashboard ‘Machine1’ inside a folder called Company. Edit the dot notation to reorganize dashboards into different folders, or create nested folders by using multiple ‘dots’ (for example, Company.Factory1.Machine1)
Creating Dashboards: Creating a new dashboard using the ‘Create a new dashboard’ button still creates a blank unnamed dashboard, which will appear in the ‘Visible only to me’ folder until it is shared with a user group.
What’s Next
This update lays the groundwork for upcoming features to give you more control over user groups, and make dashboard organization even easier. We hope this makes your workflow smoother and more intuitive.
